Take the Controls of a Sail Plane

I did this so long ago I don't really remember in which year it took place. From my home in Austin, Texas, I drove down to San Antonio, to a place that gave demo rides for people interested in getting into the sport of flying sail-planes. As it turned out, I was lucky that day... the plane they normally used for demo flights was unavailable, and I happened to arrive at the same time as a doctor, who was part owner of a high-performance plane (much like the one pictured above).
He was there to take his plane up and invited me to join him. So, for my one-and-only experience in a sail-plane, I got to fly a top-of-the-line, high-performance plane that few others were fortunate enough to do. In the end, though, the cost of doing it on a regular basis was quite prohibitive for me at that time in my life, so that ended up being my only flight. :(
